As part of the Sudcerca celebrations in 2024, we will launch 3 events during the summer of 24. In reverse order.
The August event will be purely family orientated, with games and food stalls and local music.
The July event will be focused on Street Food representative of the diversity across the city.
The June event will be based on retro sports days. Egg & Spoon race, Sack race and other classics, but also including some modern games. It will also be a forum for local sports clubs to offer taster sessions.
The venues and dates will be confirmed later in 2023.
As from 2024 we will be celebrating the very first Southchurch Day. The actual day is 12th June, however, the celebrations will be on the closest Saturday to the day itself. So the first Southchurch Day Parade will be held on 15th June 2024.
The parade will leave the Walnut Tree and make its way along Southchurch Road and down to Southchurch Hall Gardens. There will be celebrations including music, food and games.
Why the 12th of June? It’s the date in 1267 that Richard de Southchurch stood down as Sherriff of Hertfordshire and Essex. We wanted a date in the middle of the year and that’s what our Director of History and Heritage came up with.
There is more to Richard than meets the eye. So why is the logo for Southchurch Day a rooster? That is for you to find out, why not contact Chris below and share your thoughts as to why, he may even tell you.
In partnership with Southend Community Police Team and Forward Motion we have hosted a number of BikeTrax Events.
The events are designed for people to come and have their bikes and have their bikes ‘serviced’ and security marked.
They can also take the opportunity to speak to the Community Police Team and other agencies who maybe present.
We will soon release dates & venue for the next BikeTrax
Our Bare Naked Community Markets are due to be launched in 2024.
The markets are for local traders selling, food, craft, drink and art. Fashion design, household items and almost anything you can think of.
The markets will be aimed at providing products from cultures represented across the city, the young and anybody interested.
The only thing is, there must be biodegradable packaging if any used, bare naked waste.
Hope you can join us.
